About Our Client:
Our client, a national nonprofit organization supporting local public health initiatives, is seeking a skilled communications and marketing professional to join their team on a temporary basis. They are ramping up design and outreach efforts and require a candidate who brings both strategic communication abilities and strong graphic design skills—particularly in Adobe InDesign. This is a critical backfill for a role where immediate impact is needed.
Job Description:
In this role, you will support five program directors by creating compelling written and visual content across platforms, including reports, newsletters, digital assets, and web content. You will be instrumental in ensuring the organization’s messages are consistent, professional, and aligned with branding standards. This role is part-time (30 hours/week) and requires a hybrid schedule in Washington, DC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and layout print and digital materials using Adobe InDesign
- Write, edit, and proofread various content formats, including fact sheets, blogs, newsletters, and reports
- Support website content updates and optimization (Craft CMS experience a plus)
- Collaborate with program directors to develop marketing materials and communication strategies
- Manage editorial calendars and ensure timely delivery of communications
- Track engagement metrics for digital content and suggest improvements
- Provide project coordination across departments for communications initiatives
- Uphold editorial and branding standards across all deliverables
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or public health-related content creation
- Proven expertise in Adobe InDesign (portfolio or project samples strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills
- Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., Craft), email marketing tools (e.g., MagnetMail), and social media tools (e.g., Hootsuite) preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or related field preferred
