Job Title: Medical Collections Specialist

Location: Plano, TX (On-site)

Pay Rate: $24–$26/hour (based on experience)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible start between 7:00–9:00 AM, 8-hour shift

Assignment Type: Contract-to-Hire


Overview:

A centralized billing office in the Plano area is seeking two experienced collectors to join their high-volume team—one focused on inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) accounts and the other on outpatient collections. This is a fully on-site role with a supportive team culture, structured training, and long-term career potential.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full revenue cycle for assigned claims, from submission to resolution
  • Review aging reports and proactively follow up on third-party claims
  • Contact insurance companies, patients, and other stakeholders to resolve outstanding balances
  • Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to determine next actions
  • Submit re-bills, appeals, and tracers; make appropriate adjustments with correct reason codes
  • Research and resolve denials, underpayments, and billing discrepancies
  • Review payer contracts and calculate reimbursement expectations when needed
  • Analyze denied claims and determine resolution strategies using existing templates and guidelines
  • Maintain accurate documentation and meet productivity standards (target: 18–20 claims per day)


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years of recent experience in medical collections, specifically working with UB-04 forms
  • Prior exposure to inpatient or hospital-based collections (IP or IRF)
  • Experience with financial appeals and denial management
  • Strong understanding of insurance reimbursement processes
  • Familiarity with WellSky and HMS is a plus
  • Comfortable performing basic math to interpret contracts and reimbursement details
  • Intermediate Excel skills and general computer proficiency
