Position Overview
The Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the estimating process from start to finish, supervising and mentoring estimators, and ensuring departmental resources are effectively organized. This role requires a strong focus on accuracy, completeness, and meeting deadlines.
Location: Seattle, WA
Salary Range: $115k-140k
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The following duties are associated with the Senior Estimator role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed:
- Train and mentor estimators, ensuring professional growth and development.
- Perform conceptual budgeting and estimating.
- Determine and confirm project scope and programming.
- Maintain strong customer relationships and interface with clients.
- Participate in project interviews and presentations.
- Set up estimates in estimating software, including:
- Estimate breakdowns
- Multiple user files
- Develop and review scope letters.
- Manage the RFQ process for major material and equipment packages.
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations for completeness and accuracy.
- Provide design input as required for budgeting and estimating.
- Utilize and manipulate Excel spreadsheets and Word documents for estimating tasks.
- Collaborate with the Chief Estimator for guidance, progress tracking, and adjustments.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum of 4+ years of electrical estimating experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and basic electrical installation practices.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and estimating software.
- Working knowledge of National and State Electrical Codes.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversees and mentors estimators.
- Responsible for interviewing, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and resolving issues in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Occasionally exposed to mechanical equipment and outdoor weather conditions.
- Noise levels are generally moderate but may vary.
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs).
- Requires vision capabilities such as close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
